HEALING IN THE MARGINS
I’d already worked with Beth and Ashley for several years when they decided to launch their nonprofit Healing in the Margins. The scope of this organization was founded in a need they saw at Hampton House for (A) equitable training and programming for clinicians of color and those in the LGBTQIA+ space and (b) to raise funding for the clients those clinicians saw/clients in those same spaces.
BRANDING
The campaign goal was to create a brand identity that 1. Aligned with its sister org Hampton House and
2. resonated with donors, therapists and clients.
Ashley and Beth wanted something that was reminiscent of their Hampton House design while also being distinctly its own. We decided we would use the signature rainbow color scheme from the Hampton House Counseling logo as the base for the design, but it has its own unique shape. We also used the same signature green from Hampton House counseling for one of the primary colors. I chose a handwritten “hm” after several iterations with Ashley for one of the brand marks. She really wanted the soft, feminine space the script provided, and it added some flare to the design.
Paired with the sans serif font, and the new straightened rainbow shape—we had our design.
HEALING IN THE HOLIDAYS, HMPCA, AND CLARKSVILLE’S HOUSE OF HEALING
After Healing in the Margins had been established for a few years, Ashley commissioned me to make a logo for their hallmark holiday fundraising event Healing in the Holidays. Shortly after that, I was commissioned to brand their first satellite location: Clarksville’s House of Healing. Since then, I’ve also branded a few other initiatives including their clinician collective HMPCA.
I’ve done several print designs for Ashley and Beth over the years. I’ve featured a few below including a Step and Repeat Ashley commissioned in 2023.
I’ve also included a Mental Health Awareness flyer I made for HITM as well as the Healing in the Holidays program for 2023.
WEB
The campaign goal was to design a website to launch the Healing in the Margins brand that would spread brand awareness.
The website design for Healing in the Margins needed to be compelling, respectful, and representative. I spent a great deal of time with Beth and Ashley initially on both the copy for the website, the photography, and the call to action.
